Effect of varying stocking densities and different inorganic fertilizer application levels on Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) production in floating net hapas at Kigera III reservoir

Two separate experiments were carried out to determine the effectiveness/amount of inorganic fertilizer in production of natural food for caged tilapia; and the best stocking density that will give the highest fish yield at a constant level of inorganic fertilization. Oreochromis niloticus fingerlings with mean weight of 6.1 g. were stocked in net - hapas (attached to floating bamboo raft) using completely randomized design in replicates under the different treatment. Mean final weight of fish was inversely proportional to stocking density. There was no direct relationship between stocking density and mean survival rates
