The experiments took place in the Laboratory of non-irrigated Agrotechnics at SCA Simnic in a 5 year rotation during 1986-1991: barley-sun-flower-wheat-maize-haricots on brown-reddish luvic soil. The experimented hybrids were entirely created at the ICCPT Fundulea, namely: Fundulea 270, Fundulea 320, Fundulea 378, Fundulea 380 and Fundulea 420. The basal dressing on which the researched variants were sown was N100P80. The hybrids were sown in following periods: 1, 15, 30 April and 15 and 30 May at densities of 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 thousand plants per hectare. The optimum sowing time of the researched hybrids on an average of 6 years, was the period 1-15 April, when in the central zone of Oltenia the temperature reaches 8-10 degrees C, permitting the beginning of emergence. When the sowing is made at optimum time, an energy production of 33590 M cal./ha is realized at a cost of 5490 lei per ton and an average output of 153035 lei/ha per hybrids and research cycle. The optimum sowing density was found to be an average of 60 thousand plants per hectare in the hybrid Fundulea 270 and 50 thousand plants per hectare for the period researched in Fundulea 320, Fundulea 378, Fundulea 380 and Fundulea 420. Under optimum sowing density, the production of energy was 31581 M cal./ha at an expense of 5809 lei per ton and an output of 142511 lei/ha, on an average of 6 years
