Study of parental forms for some Romanian maize hybrids

The paper establishes the maximum yielding capacity and the dynamics of stigma apparition in maternal forms in relationship to opening of anthers for the couples of self fertilized lines - parental forms of the hybrids Turda 136, Turda 138, Turda 260, Fundulea 322, Fundulea 365 and Fundulea 411, homologated in 1991 in Romania, under irrigation on a brown-reddish luvic soil. The quite good synchronization between the apparition of stigma on the plants of maternal lines and the opening of the anthers on the plants of paternal lines permits the performing of concomitant sowing of the parental forms which compound the hybrids.
