Informative role and some biochemical properties of external metabolites in fish
1993
Lebedeva, N.E. | Golovkina, T.V.
The authors made a comparative study of biogenous biologically active signals of danger: pheromone of alarm and kairomones of predator fish emitted into the habitat. Specific biochemical composition of skin and mucus (source of biologically active external metabolites) in predators and non-predator fish is shown using modern biochemical methods. Both common features of composition (e.g. molecular weight) and district characteristics in pheromone and kairomones were identified. Based on the biochemical characteristics of signal substances as determined, the authors discuss prospects of their use in aquaculture for fish behaviour control
