Specific heat of longan and lichee

Specific heat of longan and lichee was experimentally determined by using the method of mixture. A thermos flask was adapted and used as a calorimeter for the experiments. Temperature measurements were carried out using a platinum-probe digital thermometer. Results obtained from the experiments indicate that the specific heat of longan and lichee is dependent on their moisture content and temperature. It decreases as the moisture content decreases and increases as the temperature decreases. In the case of the solid mass of both products, the specific heat varies inversely with temperature. Empirical formulae relating the specific heat to the moisture content and the temperature were also proposed in the study.
