Yield protein content and oil content of soybean cultivars S.J.1, S.J.2, S.J.4 and S.J.5 under different planting

Four soybean cultivars, S.J.1, S.J.2, S.J.4 and S.J.5 were planted under four different planting condition, namely, intercropped with cassava (February-May 1983), in lowland paddy after rice (February-May,1983), upland-monoculture in rain season (June-October, 1983), and upland-monoculture in dry season (November, 1983-February, 1984) to study on yield, protein content, and oil content. Yield, protein content and oil content changed significantly with changes of planting conditions. Upland-monoculture in dry season gave the highest bean yield, whereas the lowland planting gave the maximum protein content, and the intercropped planting gave the maximum oil content. The combined analysis of variances pointed out that the variety x environment interaction was highly significant only for bean yield, but not significant for protein and oil contents.
