Screening tests of bean fly-resistance of yard-long bean: Twenty three varieties of yard long bean, collected from various growing areas of Thailand, were tested for bean fly-resistance in pre flowering stage under natural infestation at the experimental field, Entomology Dept. K.U., K. Campus. According to statistical analysis on the degree of leaves damage, the tested varieties were classified into 5 groups as follows: five varieties of high resistance, one of moderate resistance, eight of low resistance, five of susceptible and four of high resistance varieties. Granura-Insecticides Test: The comparative tests of four granura-insecticides, Disyston 10G at 0.8 gm/hill and 0.4 gm/hill: Orthrene 3G at 2 gm/hill and 1 gm/hill: Furadan 3G at 3 gm/hill and 1.5 gm/hill and Temil 10G at 1.5 gm/hill and 0.5 gm/hill, affecting the degrees of damage of Bean fly on yard long bean's leaves were investigated in the field. Temik showed the potential of the highest toxicity while Furadan, Orthrene and Disyston respectively have the lower toxic effect. The toxicity of all tested substances depended on the dosages of such insecticides and the soil-moisture content within the hills of plants.
