Cytogenetic and taxonomic identification of the species of the genus Agrostis L. represented in the flora of Serbia [Yugoslavia]
1994
Tomic, Z. (Agricultural Research Institute "Serbia", Krusevac (Yugoslavia). Center for Forage Crops)
The autochthonous populations of the flora of Serbia (Yugoslavia) from various phytocenoses included 5 species of the genus Agrostis. The karyotype, the number of chromosomes in three polyploid series 2n=14, 4n=28 and 6n=42 has been determined for all the populations. Populations of Agrostis canina and Agrostis rupestris are diploids and autotetraploids, whereas populations of Agrostis stolonifera are allopolyploids at all three levels of diploidy, Agrostis capillaris are uniform tetraploids. Populations of Agrostis gigantea are hexaploids. The taxonomic identification of the populations of the species distributed from 80 to 1950 m a.s.l., except for the populations of Agrostis rupestris which are primarily mountain species, has been conducted based on the morphological properties.
