Improvement of yield of natural grasslands of mountain Kopaonik [Serbia (Yugoslavia)] in conditions of intensive management and utilization

The investigations were carried out in meadow association Danthonietum calycinae, on Kopaonik mountain (1150 m alt.), Serbia (Yugoslavia). The experiment was with fertilizing treatments. The greatest change of both production and floristic and chemical composition was caused by the application of NPK fertilizers. The application of NPK fertilizers increased the yields by 2-3 times, PK+lime by 10-15 and manure by 10-26. The application of NPK fertilizers increased the participation of species of the family Poaceae, while the participation of species of the family Fabaceae increased with the PK+lime and manure treatments. Fertilization increased the content and yields of crude proteins as well as the content of K and P in the biomass.
