Since rainfall deficit occurs regularly at growing periods, high and stable sugar beet yields can be achieved only under conditions of irrigation. In sugar beet production, frequent irrigation with low irrigation rates is not rational. Pre-irrigation moisture should be maintained at the level of FWC (field water capacity) of 60-65 in soil layer of 0-60 cm. In irrigation, optimum amount of fertilizers is N120:P100:K150/ha. However, soil should be analyzed for nitrogen content by N-min method. Enlarged stand density of sugar beet plants has no effect on yield in irrigation. Sugar beet sown in the second part of June can bring satisfactory yield of good quality, under conditions of irrigation and proper cultural practices.
