An experimental storage system allows to observe population dynamics of stored product insect pests. The system allows to study several variables that might contribute to deterioration of stored food, from the beginning of storage to the time of its removal. This kind of information enable to decide on the timing and the preventive or control measures to be applied. Two kinds of infestation by Sitophilus granarius were realized in the small bins: a new infestation (by he top of the bin) and residual infestation (by the bottom of the bin). Residual infestations are more important than new infestations. Long term effects of insecticides are also studied in this experimental storage system. Malathion (8 mg per kg) and deltamethrine (2 mg per kg) were studied. Malathion shows a complete efficacy during three months against S. granarius. Deltamethrine shows complete mortality during the eight months of the experience
