An adaptation of the percentage of occupied organs method is proposed for sampling the first generation of the grape berry moths, Eupoecilia ambiguella Hb and Lobesia botrana Den. et Schiff., the green leafhopper, Empoasca vitis (Goethe), and the vine thrips, Drepanothrips reuteri Uzel. The Nachman function is fitted for each pest to the relationship between density and percent occupation. New tolerance thresholds are proposed: for the grape berry moth: 20 to 40 % grapes occupied by one or more glomeruli (= silken webs with parts of fruit clusters); for the green leafhopper: 25, 50, and 70 % leaves occupied by two or more immature forms; for the vine thrips: 60 to 80 % leaves occupied by one or more females. A new method based on the sampling of 10 x 10 successive grapes allows to estimate the risk caused by the grape moth. These methods and thresholds will simplify the implementation of integrated pest management in viticulture
