1995
Tsahkna, A. (Jogeva Planr Breeding Inst., Jogeva (Estonia))
Suitability of the breeding material for processing purposes of potatoe was evaluated in the experiments carried out during the storage periods of 1992/1993 and 1993/1994 at the Jogeva Plant Breeding Institute. Basic characters on evaluation were contents of dry matter and reducing of sugars. Three years (1992-1994) mean dry matter content of the perspective breeds was 21,3 %, which meets requirements in our country (the best breeds R 341-87N - 22,7 % and 1690-86 - 22,8 per cent). The lowest content of total sugars in the late autumn period of 1992 was 0,9 %. Suitable for starch industry are breeds 1806-85, R 341-87N and 1218-89N. Perspective breeds for chips are R 341-87N, 1139-88N, 599-90, 1431-90. Breeds 932-88, 1218-89N and 1250-89 are suitable for french fries
