Self-thinning of stands by yield classes
1994
Somogyi, Z. (Erdeszeti Tud. Int., Budapest (Hungary))
Self-thinning is a basic process in tree stands, about which a rule, namely, the "self-thinning rule", seemed to apply. This article summarizes the results of the latest findings based on stand and yield table data of several species in Hungary. It was found that self-thinning was dependent on yield class (site quality), i.e., the self-thinning line greatly differs between yield classes. The process of self-thinning and the effect of site on this process is not covered
