[Potato pests and diseases in 1995 and the forecast for 1996]

The article summarizes the main potato diseases and pests (potato top rot, the invasion of aphids-vehicles of viruses, a colorado beetle, potato leaf dry spot disease, the black scab, the common scab, the dry rot, the wet rot, cockchafers' caterpillars, crackles caterpillars) in different regions of Latvia in 1995 and forecasts are given for 1996. It is emphasized that inspring before the choice of potato fields one must examine the number of pests hibernating in the soil in order not to exceed the critical number.
