The PCA [Philippine Coconut Authority]-Davao Research Center conducted research on CBFS [Coconut-based farming systems] with emphasis on multistorey cropping using several cropping patterns, screening of shade-tolerant intercrops, and pest management, particularly rat incidence and control. Results indicated marked improvement in nut and copra production. Ongoing studies covered fertilizer management on coffee and coconut, varietal screening of coffee and corn for shade tolerance, and corn and peanut intercropping pattern under coconut. The center aimed to continue and further expand its research and development activities on CBFS. Highlights of the three completed and four ongoing CBFS activities were presented
