The list of food plants for Halictus tumulorum was compiled on the basis of observations carried out during the years 1960-92 and of literature. The list contained 146 plant species of 29 plant families. The main food plants of this bee species were Trifolium pratense and Taraxacum officinale. It seems that this bee has the greatest importance for pollination of Trifolium pratense and probably also Medicago sativa, M. media, Lotus corniculatus and Brassica napus. Its nest sites and growing dantilion plants should be protected near seed-cultures of red clover, lucerne and bird-foot trefoil
