Heterosis and combining ability in triticale

Based on the performed analysis of variance of F1 generation and parental forms significant results of general combining ability for all studied traits were found. Significant results of specific combining ability were found for the culm length, ear length, number of grains per ear and yield of grains per ear. As concerns ears number, number and yield of grains per plant and weight of 1000 grains, the results were statistically non significant. Heterosis effect of culm length and ear length in the hybrids was negligible, however, it increased considerably for the number of ears, number of grains per plant, yield of grains per ear and yield of grains per plant
