Optimization of layouts of housing areas for dairy-cows

The optimal solution for animal production focusing on the arrangement and operation of housing structures for dairy cows is discussed. Lay-out for cowsheds for 20, 40, 50 and (50 plus 50) animals are given as optimal solutions in relation to high priority requirements - such as the biological requirements of animals, ethologic and specific operational needs. Better technical and economic parameters are achieved by the model with a common milking section and dairy, when investigating the arrangement/operation connection between the housing section and milk-room cowsheds for (50 plus 50) cows. The more suitable parameters are those arrangement suggestions where the arrangement and operation of the milk-room is linked to the housing section from the front, not from the side.
