Factors affecting multiplication rate of ginger [Zingiber officinale] in vitro
1989
Sirin Thaithawat
Liquid Murashige and Skoog (MS, 1962) media was the best for growth of ginger. Liquid Beecomb fertilizer (20-20-20) at the rate of 3 to 5 g/l was as good as liquid MS but with slightly less in leaf number. Beecomb fertilizer was cheaper compared to MS and preparation was simpler. When MS media added with 5 mg/l of BA (6-benzylaminopurine) was used, the maximum number of shoots produced was 5.6 within 3 weeks. For optimum growth of ginger in liquid culture it was not necessary to agitate on the shaker, but it must be kept in the air-conditioned room at 25+-2 deg C.
