The possibilities of the multiple-use management of forests are discussed. These include the evaluation of current forest management practices, optimising the amount of timber harvested, realizing the full potential of teak by producing teak products for export, evaluating non-wood forest products, promoting the development of a wide-range of forestry-related activities to improve the economic standards for rural communities, and sensitively expanding low-impact ecotourism. The employment generated would utilize the forest resources while managing the forests sustainably.
