This paper reviews an investigation on development a new inbred lines of sunflower via interspecific hybridization. The 52.9 of tested polycephalic lines had the oil content in seed above 50 and 31.4 of tested monocephalic lines had the oil content in seed above 45. Testing of new hybrid combination in small-plot trials showed that exist a several hybrids with higher oil yield than standard commercial hybrids NS-H-17, NS-H-26RM and NS-H-45. The restorer lines developed by interspecific hybridization have a high genetic potential for seed and oil yield. The four years of selfing provide a good level of homozygosity of Rf genes. The work should be continued in order to reach the desirable uniformity of other traits.
