This study shows that resonance raman spectra method could be used in investigations of vital functions of maize hybrids seed under atypical agroecological conditions. The characteristic resonance raman spectrum for maize seed was experimentally proved in vivo. This spectrum is characterized by four spectral bands of different intensities occurring in various raman frequencies. Presented results of intensities and intensity ratios are of such quality that they could be considered not only as physical, but also as structural changes in the carotenoid molecule, i.e. in maize seed membrane. Due to structural changes detection in the carotenoid molecule in maize seed membrane, we can conclude that certain changes in seed vital functions occur. This is especially applied when severe injuries appear, denoting vital state of pre-stress and state of observed maize seed.
