[Data on the entomological fauna of the Montagne Saint-Pierre Nature Reserve [Belgium]. Pompilidae (Hymenoptera, Aculeata)]

About thousand specimens belonging to 22 of the 39 Pompilidae species recorded within the natural reserve "Montagne Saint-Pierre" (Belgium, Province of Liege, UTM MOMR FS82) during the last century, were collected by means of yellow pans placed in 5 typical spots of the reserve, on the territory of the commune of Lanaye. On the whole, the fauna of the hillsides (Thiers des Vignes and de Lanaye) is more diversified than that of the waste and grassy lands of the hillbase in process of natural reoccupation by forest. The recent soil modification due to cultivation of the land between the Alberts canal and the hills made disappear a number of typical psammophilous species still present up to the eighties. Nevertheless, the use of these traps led to the discovery of 3 species new for the site including one for Belgium: Anoplius alpinobalticus Wolf. Despite damages caused by human activity, the Montagne Saint-Pierre remains a very rich area with a very diversified fauna. A management favouring the mesobrometum maintenance would ensure the prosperity of existing populations. Return to fallow land of some cultivated pieces of ground would induce the resettlment of actually lacking psammophilous species.
