The influence of genotype, year, locality and sowing term on the occurrence of black and rotten grains in naked oat panicle has been studied. Two sowing terms and seven genotypes were analyzed. The number of black grains in particular panicles was 0 to 27 % of total number of grains. Average values were 0.2 to 17.4 % in main stems, in offshots these values were higher. The occurrence of black grains is increasing (in correlation with panicle development) from acropetal positions to basicentral position. It the later sowing term the differences between apical and basal spikelets are higher and the percentage of undeveloped grains is also higher. Humidity has a great influence on fungal infection (Fusarium and Alternaria).
