Potential of Sheep manure as fertilizer
1995
Ameha Sebsibe (IAR, Addis Abeba (Ethiopia))
Overnight production and chemical composition of sheep manure was studied for three years using both local and cross-bred sheep. The local breeds produced 0.19 kg/head of mean dry manure per night. A cross-bred sheep, on the other hand, produced 0.27 kg of dry manure overnight. The mean nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content of local sheep manure was 1.87 percent, 0.37 percent and 1.34 percent respectively. Based on the data collected and analyzed in this study, the annual collectable sheep manure of the country and the value of sheep manure was estimated.
