[Infections of Peronosclerospora maydis on corn promising lines in Sitiung (Indonesia)]

Resistance to the pathogen of the disease (Peronosclerospora maydis), is of great concern in the breeding program. Two experimental varieties have performed well under acidic soil with high aluminum conditions. However, the varieties did not show good resistance to downy mildew. A recent observation made on an agronomy trial using the genotypes was reported. High intensity of downy mildew infection was detected. There was an effect of cultivation on the intensity of the damage. This report also presents programme for the future improvement of the corn population in relation to DM resistance
