The effect of stem and umbel pruning on yield, viability and vigor of carrot seed (Daucus carota L.)
1994
Sumpena, U. | Permadi, A.H. (Balai Penelitian Hortikultura, Lembang (Indonesia))
The experiment was carried out at Balai Penelitian Hortikultura Lembang from June to September 1992. Randomized Block Design was used with factorial pattern, consisted of two factors, that were stem pruning with four levels (without stem pruning, 4 internode rested, 5 internode rested, 6 internode rested) and umbels pruning with three levels (without umbels pruning, secondary umbels pruning, tertiary umbels pruning) so there were twelve combination treatments, replicated three times. There were no interaction between stem pruning and umbels pruning on yield, viability and vigor of carrot seeds. Stem pruning treatments with 5 internode rested and tertiary umbels pruning indicated better result on diameter of umbels, total weight of seed yield the number of normal seedling, seedling dry weight from seedling emergence capability test
