Isolation of Bipolaris zeicola from corn
1995
Mehrian, F. | Zad, J.
Corn leaf blight is one of the most important disease in Mazandaran and Guilan provinces. The disease symptoms consisted of round to oval leaf spots, straw to brown in color with light to violet edges, 1.5-2.5 Cm in dia. Isolation from leaf spots consistantly yielded Bipolaris species. Conidia were curved to straight, occasionally cylindrical, broader in the middle and tapering toward the rounded ends, 6-9 septate, 30-90*12-15m, becoming dark or very dark brown or oliveous brown at maturity. The fungus was identified by Dr. G.A. Hedjaroude as B. zeicola. The pathogenicity of the isolated was satisfied on maize under greenhouse condition and the pathogen was reisolated from infected tissues
