Lysin content in larva and its turnover to pupa was quantitatively analysed. Four diets were used: basal diet (A), basal diet fortified with either lysine (B) or soybean (C), or both (D). Diet (B) and (C) produced larva and pupa containing higher quantity of lysine than diet (A), but less than diet (D). Lysine quantity (ug) per individual was decreased through larval development to pupa for both sexes. However, the turn over of lysine quantity (ug) per insect fresh weight (mg) was increased throughout larval development to pupa in diets (B) and (D), while decreased in the other diets. Females contained higher quantity of lysine than males of the four diets.
