Minimization of the basic tillage of soil in grain-crop rotation

Conventional way of ploughing is expensive and labour consuming. In the world practice of tillage attempts have been made to replace ploughing by subsurface cultivation, chisel ploughing, as well as by a reduced depth of ploughing. Since 1983 Department of Soil Management of the Latvia University of Agriculture has been engaged in the research to study. These studies show that the changes of the content of organic matter between variants of soil tillage are insignificant.
