Micropropagation of Shepherdia rotundifolia
1995
Zubair, M. (NWFP Agricultural Univ., Peshawar (Pakistan). Dept. of Horticulture)
Micropropagation methods of Shepherdia rotundifolia were evaluated for increased productivity. Use of basal nodal sections increased average plant height to 2.75 cm as compared to 1.38 cm from shoot apex explants. A level of 2.0 mue M TDZ/l resulted in a greater number of shoots (3.27) and roots (3.09) per plant while 1.0 mueM TDZ resulted in greater plant height (6.44 cm) and individual shoot length (1.93 cm) when just germinated seedlings were used. TDZ at 0.05 mueM with or without Zip resulted in greater plant height when shoot tips from plantlets cultured for 2-3 years in vitro were used. Interaction between 2.0 mueM GA and 1.5 mueM BA produced taller plants than either treatment alone.
