A two year study on oat cultivars viz. Border, Superlate, Ogle, Clintland and PD2-LV65 conducted during 1987-89 indicated that Border and Superlate gave higher green fodder and dry matter yields with all agronomic characters being significant. Border and Superlate took 16-17 days to germinate (6-7 days more than others) and 140-145 days to 50 percent heading (15-30 days more than others). All the characters studied were positively correlated. Dry matter yield was significantly related with stem thickness, number of leaves per tiller, number of tillers per plant, leaf area and green fodder yield.
