Microscopic study of cross-sectional shape of cotton fibres (cvs. FH87, MNH129, S12, LH62/FH90, CIM109 and CIM135) during 1988 showed about circular cross-section but they were negligible in number. Immature fibres mostly appeared U-shaped or flat or rectangular cross-sections with rounded corners. Mean range of contour ratio of fibres was 1.98 to 2.45. The study also reported quality characters of these cottons.
