Contents of ammonium and nitrate in soil solutions from arable and forest sandy and developed from loess soil profiles were studied. Either nitrate and ammonium ion concentration in soil solutions was the highest in humus horizon and decreased with depth of soil profiles. Nitrate contents in arable soil profiles was higher than in related forest soil solutions. Nitrate concentrations were higher than ammonium in humus horizon of arable soils, while in most cases ammonium contents were higher than nitrates in solutions from deeper horizons of arable soils and from almost all solutions of forest soils
