Organic matter in the recent limnic sediments of North-Eastern Poland

In sediments of lakes showing low trophy, the contribution of humic substances (HS) depended on oxygen conditions in the lake. The share of HS in organic matter increased with an increase in Ca content and decreased with an increase in the content of organic C. Humic acids of bottom sediments have weakly developed aromatic nucleus. In humification processes in aqueous environment, simple organic compounds take an active part at a considerable contribution of abiotic factors
