The isolation of such sugars as: verbascose, stachyose and raffinose present in the seeds of twelve faba bean, varieties grown in Poland, for HPLC analysis was performed by 45 hrs extraction of powdered seeds with 80% EtOH, after 17 hrs defatting with chloroform. Seeds of often grown in Poland variety Jasny contained the largest amounts of etanol soluble sugars. Nadwislanski, Tibo and Alen were characterized by the low level of these sugars. The concentration of flatus causing sugars was highest in seeds of varieties Jasny and Kamir. Examined varieties varied in fat content. Mean concentration for all tested varieties was 2.77% in dry matter and ranged from 0.9 to 4.2 percent
