RECORD - a new breeding variety of Mentha crispa L.

The breeding carried out in 1992 led to the creation of a new Mentha crispa variety, known as "RECORD". Compared with the Mencris variety, used as control, this one is more productive and contains a higher amount of volatile oil, yielding 99.1-186.6 g fresh herba, 1312-2536 kg leaves and dry floscules per hectare and 3.8-4.02 ml per cent of volatile oil. Volatile oil production varies from 52.5 to 98.2 l/ha at a content of 60.9 per cent in carvone. The "RECORD" variety is noticed for its resistance to powdery mildew and frost
