Soil agrochemical properties comparison under various Slovak pedo-ecological conditions
1994
Miklovic, D. (Vyskumny Ustav Podnej Urodnosti, Bratislava (Slovakia))
Agrochemical Soil Testing results (ASP) were compared in two consecutive cycles. In the first cycle (1987-1989) classic methods (Egner, Schachtschabel) were used and in the second (1990-1991) new extraction agents by Mehlich 2 were used. The variable compared was arable land proportion (%) divided into available phosphorus and potassium based on individual categories (supply very small, small, medium, good and high). The agrochemical properties' most marked differentiation, assessed by Mehlich 2, occurred for available phosphorus, when compared to the classic method. This resulted from the extraction agent's leaching capacity, from new criteria of content evaluation and also from sampling technique (by mechanical sampler). In case of new evaluation criteria for available phosphorus, 4 soil reaction categories are considered that correspond with the strength of the leaching agents. In the case of available potassium, there were no marked transfers into the other categories. On the contrary, it was confirmed that available potassium content, determined by Mehlich 2, corresponds to the values obtained by use of the Schachtschabel method.
