The sorption properties of Albo-gleyic Luvisol based on the zero point of charge (ZPC) characteristic, pH sub(0), s sub(p) and ps sub(0) were studied. The change of these parameters in the soil profile was compared with parameters which characterize the grain size composition, chemical properties, content and quality of the soil organic matter. The upper layer of soil to the depth of 0.7 m is loamy, in the depth from 0.7 to 1.10 m clay loamy. The pH in KCL of the soil profile is strongly acidic (pH = 3.55-4.55). The content of organic carbon in the humus horizon attains 1.76 % (C sub(HK) : C sub(FK) = 0.58) and in lower horizons 0.48-0.14 % (C sub(HK) : C sub(FK) = 0.34-0.25). The highest sorption capacity values were found in B sub(t) (m)-horizon (297 mmol (p sup(1) kg** (-1), the lowest in E plus Bt-horizon (117.3 mmol (p sup(1) kg** (-1). The sorption complex is weakly saturated by basic cations (BSP = 58.8 in depth 0.25-0.45 m). The values of ZPC and pH attained in the profile of tested soil were 3.558-3.032 which decreased with increasing depth. The values of s sub(p) were between 4.558-7.769 cmol (p sup(1) kg** (-1). The highest were in the Bt(m)-horizon and the lowest in the E plus Bt-horizon. The values of ps sup(0) vary between 113.3-139.4 mV. The obtained results confirmed the relations between the parameters of the charge characteristics and the parameters of sorption properties, and content and quality of humus substances.
