Eight natural populations of Pinus koraiensis were investigated by starch-gel electrophoresis. For 23 loci from 15 enzyme systems, the percentage of polymorphic loci (99 level), the number of alleles per locus, the observed and expected heterozygosities were 69, 2.0, 0.200 and 0.208 % respectively. Interpopulation genetic diversity was 5.9 % of the total genetic diversity and level of gene flow was 3.987 migrants per generation. Although population differentiation in P. koraiensis was not remarkable, the sampled populations were divergent with significant FST values at 14 loci of 22 polymorphic loci and 11 significance of contingency chi** (2) - tests. The populations geographically close showed a tendency to cluster into the same group.
