1993
Wardeh, M.F. (ACSAD, Damascus (Syria))
Camel numbers are believed to have increased from 10.7 millions in 1980 to 11.9 in 1989. Their relative importance has in relation to total animal units increased from 14.2 to 14.5 during the same period. Camels annually produce about 3218, 538, 95 and 14 thousand tons consumable milk, meat, hides and fiber, respectively. The Arab countries are classified into three categories according to the relative importance of camels to total national animal units and to their economic and social values in each country.
