Chane Rawdsiri
Six Varieties of Asparagus; Mary Washington, U.C. 500, U.C. 309, U.C. 157 F2, Brock's Improved and Brock's Imperial; were compared under heavy clay soil at Rajamagala Institue of Technology, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Huntra Campus, during January 1989 to January 1991. The results showed that Brock's Imperial was the suitable variety for green Asparagus in this area. It provied higher yield and quality than others. However, there were some problems which had to be eliminated in the xperiment. Firstly, rats, diseases and insects must be eradicated. Secondly, the pH of soil had to be adjusted by adding lime, organic matters and chemical fertilizers. Thirdly, the plots for planting Asparagus must be well planned, so that the water could be well-drained and also well-reserved.
