Nephrapostasis associated with Citrobacter freundii infection was diagnosed in a 5-year-old intact male domestic short-hair cat. Presenting signs included anorexia, polydipsia and polyuria and abdominal distention. Palpation revealed a large abdominal mass. The right kidney could not be palpated, observed radiographically, or visualized using abdominal ultrasound. Exploratory laparotomy with aspiration study demonstrated nephrapostasis of right kidney. Bacterial cultures of urine and aspirates indicated Citrobacter freundii infection. Therefore, nephrectomy was performed and antibacterial drug was administrated.
