Improving the nutritive value of rice straw and sugarcane-bagasse by fungal fermentation as ruminant feed
1993
Pratarn Senewongse
Experiment study to selected 7 fungi species; Coprinus sp., Pleurotus fiorida (1), Pleurotus fiorida (2), Pleurotus sajor caju (1), Pleurotus sajor caju (2), Pleurotus sajor caju (3) and Sporotichum pulverulentum by using solid substrate fermentation to improve the quality of rice straw and sugarcanebagasse. Each of fungi species was assigned to ferment at three incubation time (14, 24 and 30 days) and different nutrient salt (std); std+moless 1 %; std+urea 1 % and std+molass 1 % + urea 1 %. Protein content of fermented rice straw and sugarcane bagasse were increased (P0.05). Protein content, 7.32 % of rice straw fermented with Pleurotus sajor caju (3) was higher (P0.05); acid detergent lignin (ADL), 5.78 % (P0.05); neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and ADL (P0.05) were decreased at 30 days incubation time at std+urea. Sugarcane bagasse fermented with Pleurotus sajor caju (2) and Coprinus sp. had a higher (P0.05) protein content. ADL, 5.08 % was decreased (P0.05) and in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) was increased in sugarcane bagasse fermented with Pleurotus sajor caju (1) at 30 days incubated time. NDF, 64.86 % was decreased (P0.05) at std+urea. Protein content was increased (P0.05) with a long lncubation time at but did not effected IVDMD, ADF and ADL (P0.05).
