Influence of different water regimes and irrigation intervals on the growth and yield of sesames

The objective of this experiment was to study the influence of different water regimes and irrigation intervals on the growth and yield of two sesames cultivars. A split-split plot design in a completely randomized block with three replications was employed in the study. Roi-et 1 and Mahasarakham 60 cultivars, irrigation interval (3 and 7 days) and different water reqimes (equivalent to 20, 30 and 40 mm of rainfall) were set as main plot, subplots and sub-subplots, respectively. The total dry weight and seed yield of these cultivars were not significantly different. The Roi-et 1 gave number of capsules per plant more than those of Mahasarakham 60 but less seeds. The three-day irrigation interval gave better performance in term of total dry weight, number of capsule per plant, than the seven-day treatment. The 40 mm of rainfall treatment gave maximum dry weight, capsules per plant and seed yield.
