[Functional and ecological regularities of forming derno-calcareous soils]

Derno-calcareous soils formed on chalk-mergel maternal rock are believed to be the most fertile in the Ukraine's Polissya (Forest zone). These soils are called humus carbonate ones or rendzinas as well. They occupy the territory 150 000 hectares in Ukraine and are defined by simple enough structure of the profile with differentiation for genetic horizons as follows: humus, transitional and soil-forming rock. Problems of the soil genesis on chalk-mergel deposits are considered. The soil genesis on calcareous non-lessive rocks is proved to be of different quality and to depend on the ecological conditions as follows: climate, lithogranulometry and vegetation type. Diagnostics of moisture content of derno-calcareous soils using the relative humus accumulation coefficient is substantiated
