This paper discusses the results of the trial conducted under the agroecological conditions of southern Banat (Serbia, Yugoslavia) on the chernozem soil type. Based on the results obtained it can be concluded that at the first cut alfalfa forage yield is significantly affected by the size vegetation area, i.e. by row spacing. During the 2-year trial the highest forage yield was achieved in the smallest row spacings. Alfalfa forage yield was not significantly affected by boron fertilization during the trial. During the drought of the summer months alfalfa forage yield was raised by zinc fertilization in smaller spaced rows. Alfalfa forage yield increase was insignificantly affected by zinc fertilization.
