Genetic identification of different winter wheat cultivars (Triticum aestivum ssp. vulgare)

Fifty wheat genotypes from different selection centers of Yugoslavia nad World were studied. Variability, heritability and components of phenotypic variance for yield components and quality components were done. The simple, genetic and phenotypic correlations and "path" analysis of genetic correlations coefficients were calculated. The significant differences in mean values for all the studied parameters among investigated cultivars were determined. High variability for productive tillering and kernel weight per plant, lower for kernel weight per spike, number of kernels per spike and harvest index, and the lowest variability for spike length and number of spikelets per spike was found. Studied cultivars showed high protein content and sedimentation. The heritability for all traits was high, except for grain protein content.
