The inheritance of number of locules was studied in diallel crosses of divergent tomato genotypes D-150, S-49, S-35, H-52, Kg-zuti, and SP-109. In the F1 and F2 generations, the number of locules was inherited additively, which can be concluded from the high number for intermediary inheritance. The analysis of combining abilities indicated a significant effect of additive genes in the inheritance of this characteristic. Heritability in the broad sense was 85.56, which confirmed the strong influence of genetic factors in relation to ecological variance in the inheritance of number of locules per tomato fruit.
